Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our executive roundtables, our charter and our invitation process.
Attendance is reserved for Senior Leaders from mid to large-sized organisations. One of which will usually host in their board room or a unique meeting space. There is usually one Proven Specialist on the topic and one Conversation Facilitator. Participants are selected to match the Conversation and to ensure non-competing peer representation.
The topic is proposed by the Host and those Leaders invited will have communicated with us that they wish to discuss this topic in the near future.
We operate under a strict confidentiality charter. Conversations stay entirely in the room. We do not publish summaries or takeaways, or reference attendees and their brands, or record sessions in any capacity.
No. Pitching and sales presentations by our participants or partners simply damage the trust of the table and the flow of the conversation. Although this is not a networking event we do encourage participants to ask ‘How can I help you?’ and to mean it. That way everyone goes back to their orgnisation with even more value. The environment is built strictly around trust, collaborative learning, peer problem-solving, and practical outcomes. All of that said most participants meet the attending expert from our sponsoring partners at a future date because they know what they are doing.
Invitations are extended by personal recommendation from Participants or through direct submission via our conversation request form on our website. Those requests are reviewed daily.
Wear whatever you would wear to your office, the environment is welcoming and open.
In London the Facilitator is often Founder Colm Hannon who has convened and facilitated hundreds of roundtable discussions with C-level executives. Sometimes the Facilitator is a well known BBC Presenter or a leading global CISO.
Most participants email a brief introduction to the Facilitator to an appropriate C-level leader of a mid to large sized organisation or they introduce us to a leader in their own organisation about facilitating similar calibre conversations across their own organisation.
There are so many things that make these conversations different: Quality of attendees, venues, hosts, facilitation, format, timing, focus, confidentiality, conversation cadence, actions, topics, cooperation, proven experts, different perspectives, the format and energy all make Important Conversations the best way to kick start thinking differently about your most important challenges or opportunities.
No there is no membership. Leaders simply want to talk about and solve what matters to them and their organisation. We give them exactly that.
Each conversation is a genuine one off and the details are never shared anywhere, so the competitive advantage is real. You won’t find the findings in a published document or webpage. What is said in the room is very often what will not be said in public or published online. Our no device policy and our confidentiality policy make sure the conversation stays in the room.
Yes we curate and convene Important Internal Conversations across companies who have lots of data and knowledge but struggle with a mechanism to have trusting conversations internally. We at Important Conversations make sure that every voice is heard and we keep the conversation on track. Most company’s inadvertently make their internal meetings for approval rather than for understanding, or ideation between internal leaders. One externally facilitated meeting can provide a breakthrough that would never have happened or succeeded without it.
Invitation come via personal recommendation or via a request on our site
